Hello
Introduction / History
Since some people seem to have trouble downloading, installing and configuring the Darkfall Origins Standalone, there have been plans by Jercy and me to create an auto-downloader & installer.
The first attempt was made by Jercy creating a little program in Visual Basic, but the program didn't get finished yet due to different technical problems.
Yesterday I took some time to create a downloader & installer using InnoSetup. After some initial success with downloading and extracting some small test-archives, I figured that the program had problems downloading the whole big 9GB RAR file from the FTP. It did download the whole file, but somehow "lost" connection to the process. The progress froze at some point and it basically failed to "continue" the installation. After some time the installer said it was "Finished", without extracting the archive and doing the configuration stuff tho.
So I talked to Jercy and we repacked the Standalone archive, split it to several 500MB parts and made it accessible through the HTTP server, instead of FTP.
And this works. I made some additional "full-scale" tests and didn't find any problems on my machine. However please keep in mind that this is an initial release and I only tested it on my machine.

Our mission is to provide you with the Darkfall Origins experience. Nothing else. However if you think we are "dodgy" and want to infiltrate your computer with malware, I did an analysis of the Setup_DFO_Standalone.exe using VirusTotal.com: www.virustotal.com/en/file/f33462fe0d5daf815f39f2646b041f3ab07d155f142ffd187bc39ccec815e577/analysis/
Source Code
Additionally I provided the source code for the InnoSetup installer script. You can find it on the public FTP in the folder
/nuclearping/DFOrigins_Installer/Source/
Use it to rebuild the installer, for educational purposes or whatever. Please keep in mind tho, that the Installer is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International license. creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/
Please read the "license.txt" for additional information and requirements.
Have fun!

Troubleshooting
- If you use the installer and get strange messages after downloading like "Could not call proc" or "Access violation" or something, please report them here.
- The installer has some sort of "auto-resume" function in case you needed to cancel the download or lost internet connection or whatever.
Before starting to download it checks if files already exist and skips those which are found. However it does not check if the file was downloaded completely! So if you had to cancel the download due to some problems,
make sure you go to your \Path\Of\Installation\Download\ and delete the last .rar file, before resuming the installation. - On Windows 10, you need to install DirectX 9 to be able to start it.
You can get DirectX directly from Microsoft: www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8109
Download and start. If it asks for a folder, just put C:\Temp\DX9. Then after extraction, he doesn't continue automatically. So go to C:\Temp\DX9 and start DXSetup.exe
What does it do for you?
- Allow to select an installation destination
- Download all required files
- Extract them
- Modify the configuration files to match the installation destination
- Create a Desktop and Programs group icon
