Big question and different opinions. What kind of grind do you prefer?

The slow(2010) speed, i enjoyed to work on my character progression and after a good amount of time finish it off with some action! Keeps the game last for longer.

Are the 2011 rates the medium speed option?

I would say that it should take about a month to be really viable in pvp and by that I mean have atleast 2-3 schools maxxed. And maybe by like 2-3 months should have a capped off character. . I feel like any slower and new people really wont stick around. But thats my opinion.

Edit: And people need to remember: It takes a quite big chunk of gold to max everything, starting on a clean server with lots of competition will take a lot longer than it did in end of DFO when you had a full bank. I do think the end games was to fast though, but maybe like 25% of it or something would be decent.

you just dont want it so slow as to deter new players from playing due to the gap. but you dont want it so fast that you have maxed characters in a few weeks. should definitely do a curve that is broken up between 1-25 26-50 51-75 75-100.
also keep in mind we dont have full banks. we will be fighting over spawns for regs. reduced spell gains from casting on players would mean more people out in the world leveling up magic. This means that you could save up a bunch of regs to go farm and then get ganked, setting you back a ways. In turn reducing the speed at which you are leveling your character.
Its like walking a tight rope. Cant sway it too much either way.

Here's the dilemma I believe MMO's run into. You're targeting multiple walks of life, at different progressions in life. If you want a game that is a soft medium to cater to a more broad range of consumers, keep in mind that not everyone that loves to play Darkfall has time dedicated to grind the character to be viable in pvp, as much as the "more dedicated" player(s) may have, to say in a somewhat politically correct manner lol. The only reason I play this game is to PvP.. It's not to get fulfillment in life, or some sense of worth.. I play because I enjoy the 'skill shot' aspect/emphasis on team play & support in PvP/game dynamics and utility/ and all around fucking bad assness!! Lost the political tone there..haha.
Anyhow, my point being.. please don't make this game about the experience of PvE and grinding your character. I think the 2.5x - 3.5x would be a rough target zone to Start with. Darkfall is in essence an all out PvP game, and lets keep the focus on that IMO. Fuck the cool waterfalls, and the neat looking trees.. who gives a rats ass about graphics if the PvP [or pvp goal oriented content] mechanics are jacked... Focus on fundamentals of PvP, NOT PvE or some time-sink MMORPG that people lose interest 3/4 the way through their first goal. Why feed the need for china farmers??? lol.. make essentials more readily obtainable when a PRACTICAL time is invested.

4x 2010 speeds, it was like 24x at the end not 4x.

Just keep in mind when you have no regs no money no armor or weapons and 500 people are trying to kill 5 goblins your not going to see a huge amount of gains haha.
