Darkfall is in essence an all out PvP game, and lets keep the focus on that IMO. Fuck the cool waterfalls, and the neat looking trees.. who gives a rats ass about graphics if the PvP [or pvp goal oriented content] mechanics are jacked... Focus on fundamentals of PvP, NOT PvE or some time-sink MMORPG that people lose interest 3/4 the way through their first goal. Why feed the need for china farmers??? lol.. make essentials more readily obtainable when a PRACTICAL time is invested. You need to spend some time doing some neature walks if you dont think waterfalls are important! But seriously. The skill gain discussion is important because like you said, we dont want people to lose interest 3/4 of the way through. But we also want to try and even it out to where everyone is happy. With that discussion also comes the meditation addition to darkfall. I think that aspect of the game would greatly increase the amount of player retention, because like you said, some people want to focus on pvp but dont have the time to endlessly grind their character.

i would say 2x or maybe 3x the normal gain, i played darkfall for 3 years just making new characters to max and moving on to new once when they are maxed that was fun aspect of the game because that pling sound of a skill hitting 75 :->
