i'm really tired of seeing so many people excited to bring the game back, just to change it. i want to play dfo. i dont want UW or any other skewed version of what the game should be in some warped idiots mind.
i'm sure that there are a few who want to see massive changes, some that want to see moderate changes, and those few who only want a couple things changed. the fact is, if you change it, then it is no longer the same game. the same game is what we have all been clamoring for.
please admins..remove all posts regarding possibilities of bringing back dfo and force them to go to their own site. i prefer DFO as it was, with maybe some add ons, but no core mechanics changes. i loved dfo, i hate the atrocity that has become of it with the creation of UW. A lot of people are upset with the proposed changes and there are only a few who WANT to change dfo to be what "they" wanted from the game, not what everyone would be happy with.

I agree with the OP.
I believe Andrew and his team that are asking AV for rights are motivated, but not for the correct reasons. I believe they use the "I WANT DF BACK" as a front when really hoping to make a little side money because they see there is a consumer base for the product.
Where as this initial group working on the Emulator seem way more trust worthy and sincere when stating they want to play DF again.
Like the OP I feel way too many people in Andrews group want to change the core of DF1 to far and without holding proper large scale polls to seek support in the changes their "small" group wants.
The changes they want will lead to more potential $$$$ and at the same time change some main things the VETS wanting the game back the most like about the game.
And like the OP we can all agree some minor changes are needed without any discussion like bugged mobs and time for skilling up and sword+board hotkey.
So I'm putting my eggs in The emulators basket in hope they will hatch.

Andrew and his lot have brazenly come into the EMU forums, and started a sales pitch, talking about changes etc. This advertising does not belong on the EMU forums, they have their own boards to advertise on, let them go use it.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news.. but let me clue you guys in on a little something. The only chance you guys have at seeing dfo running again.. is nat and the people here that are working on it gets it reworked. I am sure in time.. a long time.. they will succeed. AV will never give rights to their product. I assure you that.. I don't give a shit what he says.. he can be as professional as he wants in his posts.. ITS NOT HAPPENING.
Here is why.. AV does not fully own the rights of the original darkfall to sell to anyone... I highly doubt av is hurting for money as much as people think.. and.. They currently have a darkfall game they are trying to put together and get right. So.. in the business world... to sell original darkfall to anyone would majorly hurt the one currently running a PAID subscription. It would become competition so.. you can get that out of your heads.. I don't give a shit what Andrew says. AV may not be doing their best to reproduce this game but they are not that dumb.
The sole purpose of dropping the original was to give it a face lift. That was the MAIN reason.. it looks old.. its not eye candy at all(when everything else competitive in the market is).. sure.. it worked great.. combat ect. Something turned people off about it.. its decline was quick(I played it from alpha stage on through shut down.. don't try to come here and tell me any different) It died because it was unattractive to the majority because of awful grind(making the fully developed character op as fuck((skill gap as you would like to call it)) compared to a newer player, Full loot.. again.. this turned so many off at the beginning because people were everywhere and groups roamed the noob spawns slaughtering people straight to unsubbing turning this game into a very small community who stuck it out a lil longer. Then.. after na launched.. a few months after.. the cycle nukes patch hit..(more people left) and shortly after they nerfed mount fighting(which was op as fuck and even more people left). For the next year.. game was a small community in a huge world. It was fun for us.. but NOT for the majority.. in which for the game to properly work with sieging and such.. we needed more population. So.. dfuw faces the same fate and well.. here we are.
In a business point of view.. they had to face lift and make a change.. unfortunately.. they failed.
Now again... If you guys wanna see and play the original again... You better back Nat and this crew here. If nat for example and the others are younger than 20. I highly doubt it will happen.. because the first time he gets laid.. he wont be fucking with coding(reverse engineering) anymore a game that failed in the first place.
Same scenario with swg... took 8-10 years for the emu team to get it to work.. it has 10 times the amount of players playing it than darkfall has... its free and its non full loot and tab target.
So.. maybe you should wake up to the REAL situation.
