"I want, I want", "damn, just get the game out"...etc etc...you see why I strongly advise not to allow any more polls? A certain type of people will feel even more entitled to back-seat drive/demand what SOME have polled for etc.
Remember, who wants to please everyone ends up pleasing no one (an extremely simple fact that many seem unable to grasp); raising expectations of allowing everyone to decide the direction of the game, will make them even more bitter when, necessarily, most will not have got what they suggested.
At the end of the day leadership and a coherent plan are fundamental, as dozens of Generals with different strategies will make us lose the war.
Debate, brainstorming is vital, but do not be afraid to tell people that YOU will have to make the final decision.

I don't see many people stumping up cash to give your 'generals' what they want, and no one else gets any say. You talk about entitlement. Why do you feel this group should be entitled to seek our cash to facilitate their desires alone? If your group of generals want to startb a company, source their own funding and launch the game - go for it. If you want people's money you are not entitled to that. You are right - you cannot satisfy everyone with changes - which is why it is best to just release a game we all enjoyed enough to be here in the first place...

Is it so difficult to understand that for "dozens of Generals" I was referring to the multitude of people dictating their own view and expecting to have EVERYTHING they have suggested (each one of them a different and often conflicting one, of course) to be implemented? Not "MY Generals"; in any battle you need only ONE General or things do not work. Mine and your opinions/suggestions (and anyone else posting sound thoughts) can help this project, but I do not expect nor demand that all I suggest should be implemented. One battle=one General + many advisers=> one coherent decision by the General.

I want Darkfall and not some mix of Uw and Dfo plus some ideas people have. Casting without a staff and a prowess system are a no go! First, this is not directed at you, but @komoshu about the comment he made on casting transfers and sush while unarmed. I'm against that. We use Cobra staves, enchanced Blackbolts or any other type of staff to cast Heal-self and transfers. Why do you want to let a random be as effective with his transfers as someone else who got an expansive staff equipped? Anyway, that's why i'm strongly against this idea. Now, @actionjacksonI don't want a mix too, but there's few things in UW that we always wished DFO would have before UW was a thing. 1 We wanted salvaging, but honestly, we never knew it was gonna be that way. I want a very simple salvaging system, not new, broken items that we can do nothing with, but salvaging, not an high requirement on gold to salvage and you shouldn't be forced to be a crafter yourself to salvave an infernal piece of armor because salvaging and crafting is 2 different things(Not in UW tho). 2 Markets in Clan cities. House vendors are cool and i want that to stay, but we always wanted to see markets in clan cities. 3 Faster mounts on roads. I don't know what the hell you guys want for DFO, but we don't want nothing, that's for sure. You all sound like you want nothing, but DFO. I for one, don't want combat and the economy to change. That's it. I'm also 100% against a cash-shop. The game will cost 15$ a month. Everything else should either be craftable or a rare drop. In DFUW, ppl make gold out of Duels and Cosmetic. They still get an advantage from them because they can get some gold in return. so if there has to be a cash-shop, you should never be able to trade or loot these items.

The problem ambal is DFO never lived up to its promise because it was missing large amounts of sandbox tools and content. If we just bought DFO licensing and launched with no changes or future vision on where to take the game it would die out, plain and simple. The game had immense promise but at its current state it isn't finished enough to survive long term.
Another issue was gold buying, which happened a lot more than maybe you remember. People bought game goods with real money, some spent thousands on characters, boats, rare mats, etc. Cash shop or not with today's technology gold buying is inevitable not just a possibility. The buying of subscription items to sell in game curbs the illegal market and allows players to spend time to get in game resources instead of money. Allowing the game to be essentially free. This helps with population immensely as is evident from DFUW when hundreds were only subscribed through them.
Can't please everyone but I did want to rebuttal once my thoughts to your posts.
-Andrew This would be acceptable if you were funding the purchase of the game from your own / company funds, as an investment or profit making scheme. But you are actually proposing buying the game with OUR money. In that case it is up to your financial backers to consider what they want for their cash. If the backers are happy to have the game, as was, with it's expected population. Not as a game for the next decade, moving in new directions, capturing new players, but simply for the chance to play DF again with the old core population of the original game. That is after all why we joined this forum. Who are you to decide that is not enough? This is why I will not give you a single penny for your project. because you are essenialy asking for our cash to fulfill your vision of the game - without any real discussion. Not to mention the fact you are acting as if this is a done deal, when in reality you have nothing but a letter you sent to AV. You don't have any funding, any technical know how to even come near offering the changes you propose or anything more than a few emails with a company no one trusts. Your project seems as credible to me as AV right now. Casting without staffs?! You serious?! That removes a whole layer of skill from combat - for no reason whatsoever... Zaffax, you're being over zealous for DFO. We're not all like that, but we all share one thing in common: we want DFO back. Kimoshu is a vet, but not a vet like most because he is not known as a fighter, but as a middle-man. We just need to guide him. Do you have a better option? We can't do nothing for the EMU for now. We can still help kimoshu and see how far he can go with it. The most realistic option ATM is to support Kimoshu and you know it. He thinks it's better to cast transfers without a staff. We don't think that way. Our job is just to let him know that. We don't have to curse him, or to threat him. Say what ever you want and you don't even have to say that you won't support the project. DFO got the worst community in gaming and i know Kimoshu is used to it, but it must stop at one point.

Nothing is carved in stone and as someone said thus far our project is still at an early stage and no a licensing deal isn't for certain. I've maintained that throughout this project specifically that it is still a maybe, a chance perhaps, not a sure thing. However I have some hope as AV seems to be quite receptive to the idea. Getting the community behind a single project to bring back the game is beneficial IMO. Hence why I've promoted it to the community and kept people apprised of our progress.
This project is for the community to get back the game that they loved and to continue developing it for years to come. Darkfall was never complete and no MMO really ever is done being developed, look at UO! Our primary goal is to bring back DFO from the 2012 version and to continue developing the game. I've been mentioning ideas we have to encourage conversation and debate for feedback.
This isn't a project I started so I can play the game again or to change it to whatever I think. I started this project because I feel the DF community and the gaming community at large is owed this game. I want to see it become the amazing thriving virtual world it was supposed to become that we were promised and after tasting it it was taken away. That will involve some changes, additions and of course new content and sandbox tools for the game to survive with more than the handful few thousand that stayed from the original following of hundreds of thousands.
Casting without a staff is a controversial change, many liked it and many did not. I'm torn because on one hand I like it because it gives players freedom to not have to carry a staff. But on the other hand staves are used for spells and are a sort of immersion and balancing. I think that casting lesser or greater magic without a staff at a much lowered magnitude would be a good thing. But with any major changes we plan to make we'll be consulting with the community and listening to feedback. Ultimately this is a project for the community and as such I want to make sure the community's opinion is listened to. That doesn't mean we'll do everything everyone wants to change/add but we'll be listening and care about the community's ideas and preferences.
My apologies if I've given a different impression based on some of my opinions and ideas for the game.

The reason unarmed or staff or even both for transfers, and lesser magic should never be an argument is because Destroyers will still exist and we want it to stay the way it was. Some things are just not debatable regardless of the clever arguments ppl can come up with or popular demand. Specialization: Destroyers. +40% melee damage vs player wielding a staff. +20% arrow damage vs player wielding a staff. No, we don't want players to be allowed to chose a play-style where they can completely avoid these boosters when ever they want to use lesser-magic, greater-magic... You will completely change the meta even if unarmed = blackbolt quality because it will be better to transfer while unarmed when a destro is nearby because there's less risk for a super high negative trade-off that can leave you dead in a matter of seconds that way. Finally, we always had a big player base. You don't have to worry about getting more players. Think only of those who who liked how DF was in 2012 and new players who will like what DFO was. Think only of those who disliked macroing, swimming into a wall and fix these issues. Anything else should be extra's expansion, only new stuff that don't slightly affect what's already stable. More quests, more lore-friendly stuff, more in-game events and activities. Just don't ruin the Legacy that is DFO and add the missing Dinosaur who was supposed to roam all-around yssam.

first priority should be to get that license deal
Then launch df1 in a 2012 state.
then start adding content.. ( new mobs // Q6 enchance materials // new armor // NPC quest givers // land towers which are already ready to implent // underwater cities? )
Nobody in the right mind( and played the game on meta level) wanne do any form of adjustments to the combat in darkfall And keep your hands of the economy in df1 ( loottables)
Then you actually start to debat stuff like territory control.. what they did in mortal online should also work in df1.. Guardtower placements in the world which is connected to the ingame map of the game.
Guardtowers with bank and limited bindspots ( free placement)
Adjust the siege system like this:
You can only siege an enemy holding when the guardtowers are connected from your holding to the enemy holding = territory control = pvp 24 hours a day
But then again.. people need to figure out what is actually possible regarding the coding.. making the ingame map interactive is already a hard task prolly
